Now that you're nearing D-day there is only one thing on your mind... Delivery! We all ask ourselves "Will it go well, when will it happen, am I really ready, what's it REALLY like?" Well, it's intense, all consuming and if things aren't going the way you'd like it's very difficult to make yourself understood. The worst thing about having your wishes ignored or misunderstood is that anxiety produces adrenaline, which causes higher levels of pain and slows down the process of delivery. So not only do you feel worse, it takes longer! The answer is a birth plan.

A birth plan acts as a back up for any decisions that have to be made as circumstances change. Your birth partner, midwife and obstetrician should all have a copy of your preferences during delivery. You can read more about a birth plan and download your own from our article Why do I need a birth plan.
