Here you are, pregnant. You want to have a
healthy baby as easily as possible. So you read some books, book into hospital
and your medical professionals slot you in to their schedules. It’s all taken
care of except the best part; buying those tiny tiny clothes and waiting for
your happy bub. Well, almost. There is of course the delivery, but your midwife
or doctor will guide you, won’t they?
Well, yes they will do their best. Of course, everyone has an idea about how they'd like the birth to go, but it's impossible to think on-the-fly about what to do if all doesn't go as planned. However, you are the person who needs to know how to do the work of having the baby. You are also the person who needs to deal with recovery, whether you end up with a natural delivery or a caesarean operation. Most of all, you need to make the decisions about how you want to birth your child and there are dozens of decisions to make. Looking at all the possibilities is the best way to have some peace of mind that you are really prepared just ‘in case’. Sample Birth PlanWe have attached an example birth plan based on natural methods with as little medical intervention as possible for mother and baby. It covers most medical scenarios and the unlikely event of a tragic outcome. It was prepared with the agreement of the obstetrician involved and by parents-to-be who had attended a birthing workshop and were fully informed of the decisions they had made. They had also been through the birthing procedure before naturally. We strongly advise every parent-to-be to inform themselves fully prior to using a birthing plan. We advise that this birth plan template is intended to be used as a guide only and that any use of these guidelines should be tailored specifically to the persons involved and used in conjuction with the advice and agreement of your health care professional.Comments (0)
