I was terrified that my husband would pass out during my delivery, as he really hates the sight of blood! We saw a few videos during a birthing class which helped, but this one is great as a starting point, as it is an animation. Maybe if I'd had a cellist, my delivery would have been something more like this!!

Here you are, pregnant. You want to have a
healthy baby as easily as possible. So you read some books, book into hospital
and your medical professionals slot you in to their schedules. It’s all taken
care of except the best part; buying those tiny tiny clothes and waiting for
your happy bub. Well, almost. There is of course the delivery, but your midwife
or doctor will guide you, won’t they?

I was very keen to have a natural birth and had
done all the preparation I could. I had a special aromatherapy blend, a CD
player and CDs, hot packs and determination. I had an obstetrician just in
case, but my birth plan was clear, no pain relief, no intervention of any kind.
Then my waters broke but I didn’t go into labour. My obstetrician wanted to
induce and I wanted to wait.

Only an expectant mother can know the very mixed emotions which suddenly wash over you when your obstetrician cheerfully guesses your baby's weight at 4.5kg! The hardest thing for me to face as a soon-to-be mother was the prospect of delivering, the pain that was involved. I couldn't imagine it.
