Should we go for Number 3? 2007/04/24 21:35
We have a 3 year old and a 9 month old, both boys. I'd love a girl but my husband says it's too hard. What happens when the kids outnumber the parents?

We’re also thinking of having bubs number 3.

I would love to hear from people who have 3 children.

How do you cope if all 3 need your attention at the same time?

I think those of us who are pondering having another child, no matter how many we already have, need to ask ourselves:"what would I regret more, the child I have or the child I didn't have?"

Having said that, for the first time in four years I'm not either pregnant and/or breastfeeding, and I'm finally feeling normal again! Fantastic, in fact!!! Do I really think I can cope with the physical and emotional demands of a newborn plus a preschooler and a toddler when I'm pushing forty? Should I quit while I'm ahead?!!

Just thought I'd throw in an update here: we've definitely decided we'll go for number three!! Call us completely mad- I'm 39 and S is 45, we have son number one nearly four and a sixteen month old son, but we've recently agreed that having a third is absolutely the right thing for our family. That will depend ofcourse on fertility issues, which shouldn't be a big problem according to the doc. The first two were conceived naturally and easily and my hormone levels are top notch right now, yay!! We're happy to leave it all up to Nature and if it doesn't happen we'll accept that as Fate. Having a girl would be lovely, and equally fabulous would be surrounded by gorgeous boys! So we're cool with whatever outcome happens gender wise. I think the biggest thing is that S and I are from 3 and 4 children families, and are really close to our siblings. We feel we'd be doing our kids a huge favour having a bigger family (and there's also an element of us thriving on craziness too!!)

So wish us luck, and I look forward to discussing this in the forum with you all.
